There are many needs throughout the counties served by Cherokee Health Systems. Because our mission is to enhance life in the community we serve, we partner with other agencies to improve quality of life. Staff members volunteer numerous hours each year at health fairs, charity functions, fundraising events, educational programs, benefit fairs, community festivals and on not-for-profit boards.
Cherokee provides the opportunity for each employee to participate in a community service project(s) within our service region. Three projects are the target of our efforts. Employees may use up to 8 hours of their Cherokee work schedule each year to volunteer in these selected projects. Employees are paid for the 8 hours as if they worked their regular job. The three projects include:
1. The Boys and Girls Club in Newport offers healthy, constructive activities for school-aged children.
2. Iva's Place in Lenoir City provides shelter and empowering services to women and their children who are in crisis.
3. The Love Kitchen in Knoxville prepares, serves, boxes and delivers meals to the homebound, homeless and unemployed in Knox County.
