BEHAVIORIAL HEALTH ASSISTANT (Telemedicine)

Location: Knoxville, Chattanooga, Alcoa, Morristown & Maynardville,TN

SUMMARY

Functions as part of the integrated team to provide collaborative support and facilitate patient care, primarily as part of telehealth services provided Physician or Nurse Practitioner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Provide basic technical and administrative support to remote physician or nurse practitioner seeing patients using telemedicine technology
  • Escorts patients from lobby to provider’s office
  • Obtains vital signs of patient per RN or provider request and records information in the electronic health record
  • Escorts patients back to lobby, to lab, CHS primary care appointment, and CHS pharmacy as needed
  • Assist provider in coordinating care with multidisciplinary team
  • Assists patient with filling out information for releases and requesting records
  • Performs scheduling or rescheduling of appointments 
  • Assists with outreach, communication, and collaboration to support the patient’s comprehensive care plan as directed by patient’s licensed provider


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent, one to two years related experience in medical/behavioral health setting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Work Processing software, Electronic Medical Records software, Spreadsheet design software, and an ability to learn and understand the general technical requirements for the telemedicine system. With training, ability to provide basic technical support and to triage more difficult problems to appropriate staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures; communication skills for relaying information with tact and diplomacy; ability of attention to detail; ability to exercise independent judgement.
