MOBILE UNIT OPERATOR (Cherokee Health Systems Service Area)

Cherokee Health Systems has a full-time position as a primary driver for the medical coach. This position processes and missions on all patients as well as verify patient insurance. The employee in this position is also responsible for maintaining data integrity in the information management system.
Full Time - Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
Include the following:
Drives 36’ mobile unit to and from specified destinations throughout the Cherokee Health Systems service area.
Performs set up and closing procedures of the mobile unit, including but not limited to: parking, leveling of coach, attaching shore power, starting the generator, extending/retracting awning, clearing area of hazards.
Coordinates trips in a manner to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations.
Schedules and coordinates routine cleaning and maintenance of the mobile unit.
Prepared and reviews trip schedules, driver logs, and reviews maps.
Obtains patient demographic information and enters it into the system.
Verifies insurance coverage and/or verifies and obtains authorization if applicable.
Ensures that all information is scanned into the patient account in the proper electronic folders in a timely manner including, but not limited to, patient’s photo ID, insurance information, and referrals.
Attends and participates in department staff meetings
Attends mandatory department in-service training sessions.
Appropriately routes patients’ complaints.
Registers patients with the highest possible proficiency.
Obtains all proper signatures for patient consent. Uses —e-signatures as applicable.
Advises and obtains signatures on all Medicare patients’“Important Message from Medicare” Form.
May collect co-pays, coinsurance, and balance due from patients and/or guarantors at the time of service. Provides a copy of the receipt for payments received to the payer.
Schedules patients for outpatient testing if needed.
Verifies the daily cash journal log and forwards monies to the Accounts Payable Department on a daily basis if applicable.
Answers telephones for the department, as well as responding to the patient, physician, or department requests including, but not limited to insurance inquiries. Resolves requests and inquiries or routes communications to the appropriate personnel to provide assistance.
Checks fax machines and distribute the material to the appropriate areas.
Adheres and follows all departmental policies and procedures.
Adheres to and Responds to All Emergency Codes as indicated by the department requirements.
May be required to work registration duties in other clinic locations.
Maintains current knowledge of requirements and regulations of specific insurance carriers and corresponding insurance forms, as well as state collection laws and HIPAA as it applies to admit and registration.
Follows all infection control and employee health policies and procedures at all times.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times according to the established policies and procedures.

Education & Experience:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of previous experience or training that demonstrates the ability to provide safe vehicle transport for patients required.
Current, unexpired TN Driver’s License with clean driving history. Must present a copy of car insurance. Will be subject to MVR report.
