Psych Registered Nurse (Tele-med)

Description

SUMMARY

Provides supportive therapy to patients and participates in rehabilitation and treatment programs supervised by psychiatrist or nurse practitioner by utilizing a team based model. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides patient education regarding diagnosis and prescribed medications as well as usage.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documents any reactions relative to patient’s response to medication
  • Complete TPR forms for assigned patients
  • Calls in prescribed medications to the pharmacy per physician’s protocol or upon prescriber’s orders
  • Takes and records measures of patient's general physical condition such as pulse and blood pressure as needed.
  • Takes calls from pharmacies, labs, hospitals and other health care providers as needed.
  • Initiates family contacts upon Physician or Nurse Practitioner request.
  • Issues medications from sample closet and maintain records in accordance with specified procedures.
  • Attend schedule meetings including Treatment Team, staff meetings, etc.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement (QI), Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement Activities (CQI) as appropriate.

  • Under the direction of the provider, executes standing orders to assure preventive, chronic, diagnostic and medication needs of the patient are met.

  • Under the direction of the provider, executes standing orders to facilitate the highest quality of care and efficient patient flow in a team based care environment.

  • Under the direction of the provider, executes standing orders as appropriate

  • Assist with Telemedicine

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education& Experience:

Diploma Nursing or greater degree; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed or licensed eligible in the State of Tennessee as a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse two years psychiatric experience desired

Communication Skills:

Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally with clients, coworkers and members of management. Excellent professional customer service skills required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Work Processing software, Electronic Medical Records software and Spreadsheet design software.

Certificates/Licenses:

Registered Nurse or LPN licensed/licensed-eligible in State of Tennessee with two years Psychiatric Clinical experience. ANCC certification preferred but will train qualified applicants
