Psych Tech (Morristown)

Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing Crisis Stabilization Unit residents with adequate support and supervision during their stay in the facility as well as specific day-to-day functions in the CSU under the direct supervision of the Behavioral/Primary Care staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide patient care interventions as directed by the Behavioral/Primary Care Staff
  • Observe and document patient behavior
  • Use therapeutic communication skills to help de-escalate distressed patients
  • Provide information on patient progress to the Behavioral staff and Treatment Team
  • Assist with the transport of a patient to both on/off campus sites as well as light housekeeping duties to assist with patient care
  • Assist Behavioral/Primary Care staff as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

A High School diploma or GED is required, 2 years experience in behavioral care preferred; CPR certification preferred but will train qualified applicants; CPR certification preferred but will train qualified applicants

Communication Skills:

Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally with clients, coworkers and members of management. Excellent professional customer service skills required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, NextGen, Electronic Medical Records software and Spreadsheet design software.

Certificates and Licenses

Must maintain a valid driver's license.
