Practicum Experience

Cherokee Health Systems is proud to serve as a source of education and learning for tomorrow’s health professionals.  Through agreements with the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University, we offer qualified master’s and doctoral students practicum experience in social work, clinical psychology, and counseling psychology.  Practicum experience is a critical component of a student’s educational program and those who complete their practicum at Cherokee Health Systems have the opportunity to work with highly qualified and experienced professionals.  This way, students learn valuable industry skills and important knowledge while working with our special patient population. 

Social Work:

Training and practicum experience is provided to advanced standing graduate students in Social Work programs through an agreement with the University of Tennessee College of Social Work. For more details, contact the University of Tennessee College of Social Work.

Clinical Psychology:

Training and practicum experience is provided to advanced standing doctoral students in Clinical Psychology. This practicum is through contracts with the University of Tennessee Department of Psychology and the East Tennessee State University Department of Psychology. Counseling Psychology:
